Merrell

Overview

Tasked with producing furniture and fittings to create a stand-out retail experience that celebrates Merrell outdoor wear.

To emphasise the connection with the great outdoors, the design is a visual landscape across the store. Timber framed displays set at varying heights are an expression of the staggered forms found in nature. The ability to see through and across the environment is important. The open framed units provide windows through their form.

Braces across the units could potentially limit the see-through effect. As a result, each element was extensively prototyped with a particular focus on the metalwork ensuring stability and rigidity of the frames.
