Westbury Bar

Overview

Invited to design, manufacture and install a new events bar in Westbury on Trym’s thriving community hall.

The hall is a historic building, built in 1869 with features including decorative stained-glass windows and exposed roof beams.

I wanted to reflect some of these key features combined with contemporary design elements. The standout feature of the bar is a central illuminated panel which takes on the patterning from the halls stained-glass. The panel is solid surface which has been grooved from the backside at different depths to let more or less light through. Angled geometry is another key element echoing the halls roof beams. The halls crest is also inlayed into the bar top.

The bar provides a stylish focal point to the room whilst sitting comfortably in the environment.
